The original Weight Watchers plan invites members to weekly meetings where members hold group sessions, helping dieters form a network of support with people sharing similar experiences. Upon arrival, each person checks their weight privately. Meetings are conducted by a trained Meeting Leader who motivates and offers the group support through information about nutrition and fitness.

Members are also welcome to join the Weight Watchers community online, at weightwatchers.com. How Does Weight Watchers Work?

The core concept of their diet program is the innovative points system. Each food type is assigned a point value depending on the amount of calories, fat, and fiber content.

Upon signing up for the diet program, a customized diet plan is put together and you are assigned a specific daily points value to follow.

From that point on, your daily food intake is dependent on this point system. Thus, you might eat a bigger breakfast and a smaller lunch or vice versa. In fact, as long as you have enough “points” left over at night, you can eat as you please.

How Bob Greene’s Best Life Diet Works

The program is broken into 4 sections that focuses on slowly developing good lifelong food and exercise habits. Unlike other diets, there is no timeline and dieters take their time as they move to the next phase. Phase 1 starts you off with written exercises to help dieters get to the core of their weight loss questions and basic stretching and physical exercises to get you started slowly. After Phase 1, the other phases start to focus on specific behavior changes and more exercise and eating guidelines.

You stick with the regular meal schedule of 3 meals and day and 2 snacks. Workout regime starts at 50-75 minutes PER week and as you advance to the higher stages, the time increases. What dieters might find interesting is that strength training doesn’t start till the last phase after good eating habits and behaviors have changed.

How Does the South Beach Diet Work?SouthBeach

The South Beach Diet is based on choosing the right carbs (whole grains, certain fruits and vegetables), the right fats (olive and canola oil) and lean sources of protein. There are three phases to this diet.

Phase 1 follows normal size portions of lean protein, reduced or non-fat dairy and a variety of vegetables for a 2 week period eliminating all carbs. In Phase 2, carbs are reintroduced into your diet but it’s all about choosing to eat the right carbs. You should continue to lose weight in this phase until your optimal goal is achieved.
