How Does the South Beach Diet Work?SouthBeach

The South Beach Diet is based on choosing the right carbs (whole grains, certain fruits and vegetables), the right fats (olive and canola oil) and lean sources of protein. There are three phases to this diet.

Phase 1 follows normal size portions of lean protein, reduced or non-fat dairy and a variety of vegetables for a 2 week period eliminating all carbs. In Phase 2, carbs are reintroduced into your diet but it’s all about choosing to eat the right carbs. You should continue to lose weight in this phase until your optimal goal is achieved. After reaching your goal weight, you’ll move to Phase 3 where it’s up to you to continue to make good eating choices and maintain your weight.
